Every year during our school Christmas program, we award one or more volunteers with the Gabriel Award. This award recognizes volunteers who have gone above and beyond in the way they show up, care for, and serve the AJC community. In December, we honored Betsy Fauntleroy, Lee Hatcher, and Janet Williams. We’re delighted to share more about each of these devoted volunteers in the coming months.
Pictured above with 7th grader, Kennedy, Betsy Fauntleroy is a founding Board member. For the last 17 years, Betsy has built deep relationships with students, parents, and staff and has been one of AJC’s biggest cheerleaders. Betsy’s warm smile and gentle kindness make her a beloved member of our community.
When reflecting on their most cherished times at AJC, Betsy’s home comes to mind for many students. For longer than we can remember, she’s welcomed both staff and students to her farm in Goochland — where students enjoy wide open spaces to run and play, swim, pet her horses, and “just breathe.”
We are so grateful for “Miss Betsy” and all she does for our school community!
