Title I Math Interventionist (Full-Time, seated at AJC)

Reports to: Director of Curriculum and Instruction  

 

Description: The Math Interventionist works with small groups of students in 1st through 8th grade. The Math Interventionist provides targeted support to students who are below grade level in mathematics. This specialized support can include work on number sense, operations, and problem-solving. The interventionist will use various strategies, including diagnostic assessments, differentiated instruction, and explicit teaching, to address individual student needs. 

 

Qualifications:  

  • Must have a collegiate or postgraduate professional license in elementary Pre K – 6.
  • Three years of teaching experience in math preferred. 
  • Three years of experience conducting lessons and assessing student progress, maintaining student discipline in the classroom, meeting with parents to discuss student progress and problem areas preferred. 
  • Previous experience as a grade level chair or lead teacher preferred. 
  • Experience providing ongoing academic guidance for students preferred.  

 

Math Interventionist responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Assess students’ math abilities and identify specific areas where they need support
  • Determine goals for each student or group of students
  • Create targeted plans and strategies based on each student’s unique needs
  • Establish and maintain a supportive and positive learning environment
  • Provide specialized instruction for students of various grade levels for at least 90 minutes each week, individually or in small groups
  • Assess students regularly (formative and summative), and keep accurate records of student progress
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and the curriculum director to promote student learning
  • Write quarterly reports on each student’s progress
  • Communicate regularly with students’ parents or guardians
  • Provide helpful resources to parents or guardians
