Once students are in high school, we offer our alumni continued support, mentoring, and encouragement throughout their high school career and the college admissions process. Graduate support staff monitor academic performance, help arrange necessary tutoring or counseling, assist with transportation arrangements, help with finding summer jobs and leadership opportunities, and organize social events to keep alumni connected to each other and to Anna Julia Cooper.
Graduate support staff also work with 11th and 12th graders and their families to navigate the college application process. We organize college tours, SAT prep classes, financial aid workshops, and help students identify and apply for scholarships.
In conjunction with UP RVA, an organization whose mission is to build a bridge between economically disadvantaged children and area independent schools, AJC welcomes our graduates back to school in the late afternoon to work on homework, get tutoring and academic support, have dinner, and reconnect with other AJC alums.
For more information on our graduate support services, please contact Anthony Burley, Director of Graduate Support, at [email protected].
