Black History Month Celebration
|
AJC closed out Black History Month with a Family Celebration Event on Tuesday, February 28th. Our gymnasium was filled with students, family members, AJC staff members, volunteers, and community partners who came out to see the culmination of several projects our student body worked on throughout the month of February.
The program began with music performances and poetry readings from students of all ages. Several of our middle school students put on a play about notable Black figures in American history, including Maggie Walker, Barack Obama, and Douglas Wilder. Then students gave their families and visitors tours around campus to showcase their class projects on display. We are grateful for the overwhelming support from our wider community that made the night so special. Please join us again next year!

Graduate Spotlight: Cristo Rey Seniors
|
In case you missed it, many of AJC's graduates are current students at Cristo Rey Richmond High School. In fact, six of our grads are members of Cristo Rey's inaugural Senior Class and are fast approaching the end of their high school chapter.
We are proud to share that these six AJC grads collectively have received 91 college acceptances and have been offered scholarships totaling over $100,000! We hold them all in prayer and wish them well as they discern their next steps. Many thanks to the Cristo Rey community for being excellent partners in supporting our graduates.
Are you interested in staying in touch with a graduate after they leave our halls? Please reach out to Lorin Johnson, AJC's Graduate Support Coordinator, for more information. |

Introducing AJC’s new House system! Designed to promote school spirit, each House is based on the tenets of our school PRIDE pledge: I am Prepared, I show Respect, I model Integrity, I have a Dream, I will Excel.
Our “Houses” are akin to small families within our larger School family, with a competitive twist. K-8th grade teachers and staff award House points when they see good things happening daily, weekly, and monthly. Perfect attendance, acts of kindness, and positive classroom behavior all earn points for the team. We have been thrilled to see great buy-in from students and a renewed atmosphere of fun and excitement. Shout out to House Heshima in the Lower School and House Ndoto in the Middle School for earning the most points for the third quarter of the school year!
