Graduate Summer Internships

This summer featured another installment of internships for eighteen AJC graduates. While a few interned at AJC for the monthlong summer session in July, others worked for four to eight weeks at Feed More, Greater Richmond SCAN, and St. James's Children's Center.

Dyshayla (AJC Class of 2020) was placed at St. James's Children's Center as a classroom assistant for the 4-5 year-old group. Interning there showed her that she has both the ability and the interest in working with young children. Having been in the summer internship program for two summers, she now sees how the program prepares graduates for other jobs in the future.

Thank you to all of our partners who hosted an intern this year! If your business or nonprofit would like to host an AJC graduate as an intern for Summer 2023, please reach out to Lorin Johnson at JohnsonL@ajcschool.org.

Volunteer Spotlight: Beverly Dziedzic

The volunteer spotlight for this issue features longtime friend of AJC, Beverly Dziedzic. Bev is a former staff member who served as the Admissions & Graduate Placement Coordinator in the School's earlier years. She continues to help out in both offices when she can. Her ability to jump in wherever she is needed is much appreciated!

Q: What is your favorite part of volunteering at AJC?

My favorite part of volunteering at AJC is being part of a school family that gives 210% to strengthening students through mind, body, and spirit.

Q: What drives you to keep coming back?

AJC has been such a gift to me! I am so grateful for the relationships and opportunities through the years to work, volunteer, and grow along side others--staff and students--always with the goal of enriching one another’s lives.

Q: What do you want others to know about the school?

AJC is a beautiful example of “faith expressing itself through love." The commitment of the staff, students, families, and volunteers to work together to make the school such a special community is endearing and contagious!

Middle School Football Schedule

It is officially football season once again at AJC! Our Middle School football team has started gathering after school for practices with the coaching team.

When asked how he thinks the season will go after experiencing the first full team practice, 8th grader Daonte replied, "I think we will have a pretty good season. We've got me, Curvon, De'Andre, Micah, the other 8th graders...a solid 8th grade crew with some younger players who will only get better over time. We'll be ready for our first game."
